My Pappie from Pete

Created by Peter 3 years ago
Pappie was a fair man, who always rewarded people who put the graft in. He was known in Wimpey for giving great bonuses to the workers. He always inspired me to work hard and play harder.
I always enjoyed our yearly trips back and forth to Ireland and it became a custom that when ever we arrived in county wexford Ireland shortly after leaving the ferry, he would open the glove compartment (the bar as he called it) and have a glass of brandy and port and sit back and enjoy the 184-mile trip in the car to Swinford mayo.
During his time living back in Ireland, he loved walking around the local golf course with our dog prince.  This will build up a thirst and he often head off to his office better known as Melletts Emporium pub and getting involved in the craic especially on a Wednesday when all the famers would be in town.
He loved a good game of Rugby especially if Ireland were playing and he would taunt me saying you are no Keith Wood (His rugby Hero).
